Small is Beautiful Concerts, Sale (Website) (concert page) (tickets)
Our November 2016 concert will be at St Paul's Church, Springfield Road, Sale, M33 7YA at 7:30pm.
The programme includes an arrangement of Beethoven's dramatic ‘Serioso' String Quartet, some Baroque favourites and two recent lyrical works by a local composer. Our Conductor and Leader are featured in the Vivaldi Concerto for two violins and there will also be a brief appearance by some very special guest stars from Trafford Music Service . The orchestra's famous Children's Ambassador Minim Mouse has some very exciting news to share too and there will be the usual drinks and wonderful array of cakes during the interval. Everyone is welcome to join us for a relaxed and friendly evening of lovely music.
The full programme is as follows:-
Telemann – Don Quixote : Vivaldi – Concerto for 2 violins (soloists Howarth & McKeigue)
Ellerby – For Valour & Dunham Dances : Muffat – Sonata 11
Beethoven – String Quartet Op. 95 (arr. Howarth)
Tickets cost £10 and £8 concessions. Children under 16 are welcome for free with a paying adult.
On 27th November we have an event to warm a winter's afternoon when we share a programme of Spanish and Spanish inspired music at the Friends Meeting House, Mount St. Manchester M2 5NS . Composers will include Albeniz, De Falla, Granados and Debussy in music showing traditional Spanish influence from Flamenco through to Tango played by Lulu Yang – piano, Vivien Chasey – violin and Rebecca Whettam – cello. See flyer
Start time is 2.30pm – about an hour of music followed by tea/coffee, cakes and biscuits.
Admission is free – and we will welcome donations for a very good cause – the project supplying clean water to a hospital in Abeka, DR Congo. Water has now been piped to the hospital and nearby village – but funds are still needed to provide things we all tend to take for granted – showers, basins etc. We are happy in a small way to support this valuable work.
The venue is situated just behind the Central Library – and of course the Xmas markets will be on nearby – so why not start your Christmas shopping and take a musical break and join us?!

As well as the physical benefits of increasing their strength and flexibility, it also helps them to relax and slow their overactive minds down. It begins to give them an understanding and control over their emotions, as well as their bodies. Practising yoga in a non-competitive environment gives them self- confidence, and practising short meditations and visualisations improves their focus and concentration as well as encouraging their imagination.
