Business to Business

If you already run or are just starting a business in the area, you will no doubt often need the services of other businesses.

You may also appreciate the help and advice that local trade organisations can give or the Chamber of Commerce. Sale has its own Town Centre Partnership subscribed to by many local businesses. The site that this link connects to is currently due for some updating but I am told that this is in the pipeline.

Local Business Club donates over £6,000 to charity

Friday 6 February saw a very special business networking event take place at the LifeCentre on Washway Road in Sale.

The Timperley & Sale Business Club has been growing as a not-for-profit business networking group for over three years now, and during that time has donated more than £6,000 to worthy local good causes and charities.

To mark this impressive milestone, the club, which normally meets at 6.45am at the Bean & Brush Café every Friday morning in the heart of Sale, had invited many of their previous charity recipients to enjoy an afternoon networking with a great selection of invited local businesses.

Never doing things by half, the club presented a local clarinet quartet led by club member Martin Kay from J2M Consultancy who provided a sublime musical background to the event, and also featured Marc Hough from Cork of the North bringing a cheese and wine sampling experience.

Over 60 local businesses attended, and with the charities also in attendance took in a frenetic session of speed networking as well as general business networking within the fantastic surroundings of the LifeCentre, whose Ambassador Helen Allen (also a club member) enjoyed the role of host for the afternoon.

Speaking at the event was Laura Evans from Fathom IT (founder of the group) and Club Chair Karen Rawcliffe, who both laid out the group's attitude of donating most membership fees to charities and deserving local causes.

Local Charity the Alex Hulme Foundation was represented by Dave Hulme, Father to Alex, who sadly died from a form of childhood cancer, and who has been supported by many individual businesses present on the day as well as the club itself.

Dave recognised the importance of local business networking, especially with providing support for local charities: “Without many of the businesses in this room today, and the practical support they have offered by hosting events like this, we would certainly not have been able to raise the incredible amount of donations that have seen the Foundation grow over the past couple of years. It's thanks to people like David Randall (club member and local IFA) with his incredible channel swim, and the fantastic donations from businesses and organisations like the Timperley & Sale Business Club, that keeps us on the path of providing a credible treatment for the terrible form of childhood cancer that is still taking young lives.”

Jenny Al-Radhi, Family Law Support & Resolution, also commented on the afternoon: “What a fantastic networking event. It was the best I have ever been to. There is no way I would ever have approached and spoken to that many business people. Thanks again!”

For more information about the group or to make arrangements to come and visit at the Bean & Brush on a Friday morning please contact Jon Cheetham on 07971 575977 or Laura Evans on 07976 894419.
